Younger Supple Looking Skin – Restylane or Juvederm

Restylane and Juvederm are hyaluronic acid dermal fillers made by two rival companies that plump up the skin to give a more youthful appearance. They are both an alternative to surgical procedures for fighting the effects of aging. Juvederm received their FDA approval in 2006 and Restylane in 2003. Once a consultation with a dermatologist is complete, either one or the other will be recommended.

Due to the softer texture of Juvederm, it is usually the choice for the lip area. Restylane has a firmer texture and is used for more demanding jobs like around the eyes, forehead, or heavy laugh lines. Although, the final decision lies with the preference of the dermatologist as to which one is chosen.

Acne scars and uneven skin texture are also minimalized by both Restylane and Juvederm. Once injected under the skin, they will smooth out the skin in the immediate area. They will both even enhance the lips as well.

Recovery time is very minimal. Some patients have even had treatments for fine lines scheduled during their lunch breaks or right after work and back home in time to cook dinner for their families. Treatments with both Restylane and Juvederm are done by injecting the solution into the desired area and performed by a licensed doctor. The pain or discomfort is usually minimal and most do not even need local anesthetic. The whole procedure is usually over within an hour and the patients are on their way.

The results with both are usually visible immediately depending on what area the treatment was performed. The results for Restylane typically last for six months or longer depending on the patient’s body and the area treated. Juvederm is similar, with the results lasting from three to six months (or longer). For younger, smoother looking skin with an even texture, Restylane and Juvederm may be the answer.
